Moyneyana Festival
The Moyneyana Festival is known for its enduring tribute to community spirit. The festival runs over five weeks from Christmas Eve through to Australia Day each year. The Festival has developed over the years to become a favourite summer celebration in the south-west of Victoria. Initiated in 1947, the festival helps to raise funds for the local hospital, and attracts crowds of 15,000 visitors each year. The 3YB Coast FM Moyneyana Festival is considered one of the longest running community festivals in Australia. Its longevity attests to the community support it enjoys. Almost all featured events are free and held in the main street, the village green or other public spaces. The only pre-requisite for the festival is to bring a picnic blanket or folding chairs. More than 20,000 people are expected to flock to Clayton Rd for the 13th annual Clayton Street Festival. A two-day community festival held every year in Craigieburn. Maffra Mardi Gras
Beginning in 1957, Maffra Mardi Gras is a community fundraiser and one of Wellington Shire's oldest events. Local community groups nominate an entrant to represent their organisation, and a friendly six week period of fundraising rivalry, precedes the event. The Maffra Mardi Gras will culminate with a street parade followed by the announcement of the winner. The day will include market and food stalls, street entertainment, carnival rides, face painting and an animal nursery before the street parade.
